Luxor Nights
The markets close. The incense stays.
Luxor sits on the east bank of the Nile where the stone is pale and the heat settles into everything by midmorning. The temples here are older than most of the world's recorded history, and the air around them carries that weight. Dry and warm, with something resinous underneath. Incense from a nearby doorway. The faint smell of sandalwood and amber that clings to warm stone long after the sun goes down.
