The best scents come from real trips. Occasionally, we step away to take a trip and experience the inspiration. We'll return on June 30, after which all orders will ship within 3 to 5 business days.

Kyoto, Japan

Kyoto Japan Landscape Scene

There is a particular quality to the mornings here.

The mist comes down low over the gardens. It moves slowly, the way mist does when there is no wind to hurry it. The stone lanterns catch it. The moss holds it. The light arrives gently, as if it too has been asked to slow down.

In a tea garden at this hour, the air has a faint clean sweetness. Not floral. Not herbal. Something quieter than both. White tea is subtle in the way that only very refined things are subtle. You have to come to it. It does not come to you.

That is what Kyoto Tranquility holds. The unhurried quality of a morning in a place that has been practicing stillness for a very long time. The delicate green of the garden air. The pale warmth of the first cup before the day begins.

We wrote more about this place in the Journal, if you want to spend a little more time there.
