Seasonal Event Only at Disney's Magic Kingdom Park

Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party is a seasonal event held only at the Magic Kingdom. Halloween decorations will adorn the entire Magic Kingdom and even some of your favorite rides. Of course, the Haunted Mansion doesn't need that much of a transformation to get into the Halloween spirit.

Disney Haunted Mansion

Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party kicks off on select nights in August and runs all the way through November 1st. The party is from 7pm to midnight, so you'll have plenty of time to experience all the attractions and activities available at the party before it ends. Historically, the event starts off only two nights a week, but expands into four nights as we get closer to Halloween.

Separately Ticketed Event with Less Crowds

One of the best parts about Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party is it's a separately ticketed event, which means that you can enjoy all of the fun without the crowds! The party runs from August 11th to November 1st on select nights, and tickets start at just $139 per person all the way up to $199 per person depending on the dates you go (as of 2023).

Tickets include access to all of the special event attractions and entertainment, as well as unlimited rides on some of your favorite Magic Kingdom attractions. It'll be much easier to get on rides like The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh Mad Tea Party, and Space Mountain during this event. You'll also want to be sure to grab some candy at one of the many treat locations throughout the park!

Mickey Mouse Pumpkin Decoration

Since this is a separately ticketed event, you must purchase a separate date specific event ticket which is different from your standard park admission. You don't have to have both a regular park ticket and a Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween ticket to attend the party. The Halloween party ticket is all you need if you plan to visit the Magic Kingdom after 7:00pm.

Historically, Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party tickets sell out quickly for the entire month of October, so you'll want to purchase tickets as soon as they become available.

Disney will have multiple check points throughout the Magic Kingdom starting at 7:00pm to verify each guest has an event ticket to the Halloween party. We've even seen many guests try to avoid these check points without success.

Costume Guidelines

Disney has a laundry list of costume guidelines on what's appropriate to wear in the parks, but relaxes this a little bit for adults during Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party. Children have a little more leeway than adults with the biggest restriction being any mask must have an unobstructed view.

Here are some important ones you may not be aware of for guests 14 years or older:

  • You may have a Captain Jack Sparrow Disney costume that will win all sorts of awards, but Disney doesn't want to confuse guests thinking you're the actual character by posing for pictures or signing autographs.

  • Capes can not go below the waste.

  • No prop weapons, so you'll want to leave your replica pirate sword at home or in your hotel room, assuming the TSA hasn't confiscated it already.

You can find a complete list of costume guidelines on Walt Disney World's website at

Special Character Meet and Greets

One of the main reasons to attend Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party is you'll get access to special character meet and greets. There are locations throughout the park where you can meet some of your favorite characters dressed in their Halloween costumes. These include Jack Skellington and Sally from Tim Burton's The Nightmare Before Christmas, Winnie the Pooh and Tigger, Anna and Elsa, and more. There's usually a shorter line for these character meet and greets than you would find at other times during the year.

You'll also find many of your favorite Disney villains at the party and you'll even see ones that you never realized inhabited the Magic Kingdom park. Even Michael "Goob" Yagoobian (Bowler Hat Guy) from Meet the Robinsons has been known to show up. Don't worry though, your favorite Disney characters like Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse will be dressed in their favorite Halloween costumes too.

There are also several dance parties throughout the park, including one in Tomorrowland with Buzz Lightyear and Toy Story characters and another in Frontierland with Country Bear Jamboree characters.

Hocus Pocus Villain Spelltacular Stage Show

The Hocus Pocus Villain Spelltacular is another must see during Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party. This show takes place multiple times a night in front of Cinderella's Castle and features the Sanderson Sisters from Disney's "Hocus Pocus" as they put a spell on the Magic Kingdom! It also features several popular villains such as Doctor Facilier, Oogie Boogie, Ursula, Maleficent, Jafar, and Cruella De Vil, and more. The show is packed with special effects, pyrotechnics, and of course, plenty of villains. It's a really fun show and a great way to get into the Halloween spirit!

Trick-or-Treating at Disney's Magic Kingdom Park

One of the best parts of Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party is that you can trick-or-treat throughout the Magic Kingdom park! There are special candy stations set up throughout the Magic Kingdom, and you'll even get a free bag to collect your goodies.

Disney also has alternative allergy friendly options for kids to still partake in the trick-or-treating. Kids will still go through the candy stations, but cast members will put a teal coin in their bag to be redeemed for a gift later. Ask for the special teal Halloween bags and a list of locations where to redeem the teal coins.

And most important of all, adults can trick-or-treat as well! Grab your bag and head to the candy stations to fill your bags up. You won't get odd looks from other parents like in your neighborhood when you trick-or-treat with your own children and craving for some candy. Even adults need a sugar fix every now and then.

Mickey's Boo-To-You Halloween Parade

The "Boo-To-You" Halloween Parade is one of the most popular parades at Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party. This spooky procession features Disney characters in their Halloween costumes, as well as some special guest appearances! The parade route winds its way through the Magic Kingdom park, so be sure to grab a spot along the route early to get a good view. And don't forget to wave to Mickey and his friends as they make their way down the parade route! This parade is definitely worth seeing!

The fireworks are choreographed to light up Cinderella Castle in different colors and it's definitely a sight to see. It's definitely worth watching!
